Dear Members:
Thank you for the opportunity to represent you as the President of the
Association of Surgical Processors for the Province of Alberta. I would
like to share a bit about my back ground and what my vision is for the
Association in the coming two years.
I have worked at the Misericordia Hospital for 2 1/2 years and at Stony
Plain Hospital for 16 years. I am presently the Treasurer for Area Council
#19 Spruce Grove/ Stony Plain Area. I have been on the Community Health
Council for 7 years as vice chair and council member. I have also been
a member of Wabamun Advisory Council for 8 years as Chair, and council
member.
I’m married and have 2 children
I live about 75 kilometers west of Edmonton on 8 acres. I love my job,
but I also love working with my animals.
My vision for the Association for the year 2010 is threefold:
- To see the Association work towards obtaining more educational opportunities
for Surgical Processors
- To establish an educational program to educate and train new students
into the role of becoming qualified Surgical Processors. With continuing
education opportunities and an education program for new Surgical Processors
we will grow as individuals and as an Association and ultimately
we will become recognized as Professionals in our field.
- To have the SPD/CSR departments become
more visible to the public and other Health Care providers and administrators.
With more visibility will come the realization of the importance of the job
that is performed by educated Surgical Processors. The goal will be to become
recognized by the public and other Health Care providers that Surgical Processors
provide an essential service.
